A British survey has found we are now more concerned about what our friends think of us than how we are perceived by our neighbours.
It also found that a third of us admitted to lying about aspects of our lives to impress others. Love, salary and career qualifications were the most common things people lied about, the study found.
And while women were twice as likely as men to lie to impress their boss, men were more likely to stretch the truth when talking to friends.
