KEY POINTS:
Tool Blacks victorious
Late last month the NZ 'Tool Blacks' touched down at Auckland Airport after 11 days of fierce competition at the 2007 WorldSkills Finals in Japan. The team of young tradesmen produced the best-ever results by a NZ team at the WorldSkills Competition in 20 years of participating. The tally included one silver medal, two bronzes and five Medallions of Excellence, ranking the NZ team 14th out of 46 countries that competed.
The star performance of the 'Tool Blacks' team came from Auckland based Sudheer Ramjathan, who won a Silver Medal in the Autobody Repair skill category. Speaking on his return at the Airport, Sudheer commented "I am absolutely thrilled and still a bit shocked. No-one knew the results right up until the closing ceremony and when they called out my name for the silver medal, I was speechless. I felt that I had done well but didn't dare to think that I was in the running for a medal."
