What people think of NZ Defence Force

The Government has released papers showing what people really think of the New Zealand Defence Force.

Submissions were called for as part of the Government's defence review.

More than 600 individuals and organisations expressed their opinions. Of that figure, 214 submissions called for closer collaboration with other countries with many wanting to see the Anzac bond strengthened further.

More than half called for greater emphasis on the protection of New Zealand and its coastal sovereignty. Forty-eight submissions called for the Army, Navy and Air Force to remain separate entities.
