A late-night walk in the countryside by two Wairarapa men and their dogs turned into the "hunt of a lifetime" last weekend after they stumbled across and captured a mammoth wild boar in the bush.
Judd Coulson from Carterton and his mate Hayden Meads from Kahutara decided to take their four dogs for a quiet walk.
They anticipated a relaxed stroll through paddocks and bush when their dogs suddenly started chasing something.
Mr Coulson said they soon realised it was no ordinary walk when they saw a gigantic pig being cornered by the dogs.
He said the dogs needed help to subdue the "monster" boar.
