Police have arrested a 61-year-old man in connection to an alleged hit-and-run on Anzac Parade in Whanganui early this morning.
However, charges are yet to be laid against him.
Police have now called off searches for the car they believed was involved and said they were not looking for anyone else, but the investigation was still ongoing.
The man who was hurt in the collision is in a critical condition Wellington Hospital.
