Whakatane police are praising the actions of two men who went to the aid of a woman when she was allegedly assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
The 17-year-old victim was attacked yesterday afternoon near the Mobil Service station on Pohutukawa Drive in Ohope. A passing truckie stopped and went to the young woman's assistance.
He was joined by a builder and they managed to convince the 18-year-old man to leave. Police are asking witnesses to contact them.
