KEY POINTS:
Police in Whakatane have revealed the name of a man who died in the police station's cells on Wednesday night.
He was a 43-year-old Spanish national Francisco Javier De Larratea Soler, believed to have been living in the Eastern Bay for more than two years.
Police say a post mortem examination held yesterday confirmed there were no physical injuries, but the full results will not be available until toxicology results are received.
Area Commander Steve Bullock says police have almost completed an investigation into the death and at this stage are satisfied correct procedures have been followed.
On completion, the investigation will be reviewed by the Coroner and Independent Police Conduct Authority.
