Wet weather in Auckland this evening has led to a number of nose to tail crashes on the northern motorway.
Police said several small crashes had occurred, involving a large number of vehicles as a result of people not driving to conditions.
Senior Sergeant Duncan Hall said there had been no significant accidents, but one nose-to-tail had involved six cars on the southbound lane, and another crash had occurred in the north bound lane as a result of "rubber-neckers" looking at the accident rather than watching the road.
He said ambulances had been dispatched as a precaution.
"People need to drive to the weather conditions."
