KEY POINTS:
Police arrested a wet, naked man on the banks of the Waikato River after an alleged botched break-in attempt.
Police were called to a Hamilton home after reports that three men were trying to kick a door in, said Waikato police spokesman Andrew McAlley.
The men fled but a police dog tracked one of them to a pile of clothes about 40 metres from the Waikato.
A naked man was found clinging to the bank of the river a short time later, Mr McAlley said.
Two more were arrested with all three facing charges relating to attempted burglary.
