A pupil badly injured after being hit by a car that ploughed through a group of children outside an Auckland school is showing signs of slight improvement.
Five pupils from Westlake Boys' and Girls' High Schools were hit by a car that careened out of control and mounted a footpath at a bus stop before school started yesterday.
Four pupils were taken to Auckland City and Starship Children's Hospitals and a fifth pupil was treated by paramedics at the scene.
One girl is fighting for her life and is in a critical condition in Starship.
An Auckland District Health Board spokeswoman said two other injured pupils remained in a stable condition in Starship. Another was discharged overnight.
