The West Coast District Health Board has launched a recruitment drive, seeking to fill more than 30 positions in the region.
The vacancies range from a general surgeon, anaesthetist, orthopaedic surgeon, several GPs and nurses, to mental health workers and other support staff.
The board's chief executive John Luhrs said the number of vacancies was neither alarming nor unusual, considering the board employed more than 1000 staff.
