A police crack down on drink-driving in West Auckland has busted 74 people over the limit.
Senior Sergeant Regan James says the strike rate shows the message is not getting through. He says 20 vehicles were impounded in the operation and 14 people had their licences suspended.
More than 13,000 vehicles have been stopped at checkpoints in Waitakere in the past two days.
Another 19 people were arrested for offences including warrants for failing to appear in court.
