Long-time fan and host of the Chor-Farmer Choir, Trish Burgiss, said despite what the name may suggest, the group know nothing about farming.
"They are not farmers - they are people who have been educated at the university of Tokyo. They're electricians, businessman, you name it."
Tokyo University of Agriculture's all-male Chor-Farmer Choir are arriving in Featherston for their biennial visit in a fortnight, part of a transtasman Goodwill Tour which they have been doing since 1977.
The choir will hold a concert at Anzac Hall on September 6, featuring Featherston's own Gentleman Singers and a piano recital from Masako Yuyama.
The 30-member choir, plus organisers, have been visiting Featherston since 2002, after Ken Burgiss met them in Wellington two years earlier and insisted they do the drive over the hill.
