A woman who was hit by a bus in central Wellington on Tuesday died last night.
Venessa Green, 40, was out jogging when struck by the bus in Willis Street, about 1.10pm.
Ms Green's parents, who had been taking a break from earthquakes shaking their home in Christchurch, flew over from Sydney and reached her bedside at Wellington Hospital before she died, The Dominion Post reported.
Charlotte Stephen, a friend of Ms Green, said she was running a regular lunch time route and "just didn't see the bus coming".
Ms Green was the first pedestrian to die since last year's opening of the priority bus lanes in central Wellington which has led to a rise in the number of people getting hit by buses.
