The Paraparaumu line is up and running again after a power fault stopped trains coming into Wellington Railway Station this morning.
Train services were disrupted when a fault affected about one kilometre of overhead power to six trains on the Melling and Hutt Valley lines about 8.45am.
Hundreds of passengers were delayed. Passengers were able to leave trains at stations or were transferred to other services and taken to nearby stations, where buses were arranged to take them on to Wellington.
The Johnsonville line, closed between Ngauranga and Wellington to allow safe repairs, also began operating from the 1.02pm.
Wairarapa services are already running, though subject to some delays, and Hutt Valley services are expected to be operating from mid-afternoon.
KiwiRail general manager rail passenger Ross Hayward said he apologised for the inconvenience.
