Wellington train sent on wrong line

Passengers taking the train from Wellington to Paraparaumu this morning found themselves headed towards the Hutt after an "operator error".

The 8.30am Paraparaumu train was sent on the wrong line towards the Hutt Valley, Kiwi Rail spokeswoman Ruth Larsen said.

Passengers were offloaded at Ngauranga station where another train brought them back to the Kaiwharawhara station, where they were picked up by the 9am Paraparaumu train.

There was no danger in the Paraparaumu train being on the wrong line, Ms Larsen said.
