A major slip has closed a road in Upper Hutt for the rest of the day and probably into tomorrow.
A slip came down on Akatarawa Rd early this morning, dumping 400 cubic metres of debris on the road.
The slip is located 650 metres from its summit on the Hutt side.
Kapiti Coast District Council contractors are working to clear the slip, however the road will be closed for the rest of today and probably half of tomorrow.
