Wellington lawyer David Collins, QC, has been appointed Solicitor-General and chief executive of the Crown Law Office.
The Solicitor-General is the Government's chief legal adviser and is also chief advocate for the Crown in the courts.
The appointment follows the appointment in May of Solicitor-General Terence Arnold, QC, as a judge of the High Court and of the Court of Appeal.
Dr Collins' appointment takes effect on September 1.
