The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has ruled that a Wellington doctor guilty of possessing child pornography can still practice.
Dr Andrew Dunkley pleaded guilty to six charges in January this year for more than 50,000 images of girls in explicit poses found on his computer last year.
During his sentencing Judge Davidson said Dunkley had taken responsibility for his actions, and he hoped he'd be able to continue his radiology career.
The tribunal has ruled Dunkley's conduct isn't severe enough to warrant cancelling his registration.
But at the same time it says while there isn't any evidence his patients were ever at risk, it can't ignore the behaviour or the fact he could re-offend.
As punishment it has censured Dunkley and suspended him until July 31.
