A man armed with a knife has entered a Wellington petrol station, demanding cash and cigarettes.
Police were called to Z Energy on Main Rd in Tawa at 9.20pm.
The man fled the scene in a vehicle.
A police spokesperson said the store attendant was shaken but uninjured.
Police are making inquiries to find the offender.
