The northbound lanes of State Highway 1 out of Wellington have re-opened this morning, after a person was killed on the motorway in an accident.
The NZ Transport Agency said on Twitter just before 6am today that the motorway lanes had been re-opened overnight.
The person died just before the Ngauranga Gorge after being hit by a vehicle just before 6.30pm yesterday, police said.
Traffic was diverted off the northbound motorway lanes at the Tinakori Rd off-ramp.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
