KEY POINTS:
A High Court jury has acquitted the 19-year-old Wellington man accused of dangerous driving causing the death of a pedestrian.
Vance Young-Whaanga was one of three drivers police said were racing on Cambridge Terrace in August last year when Amy Edward-Mintorn was hit and killed.
All three were originally charged with manslaughter.
The other two drivers pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death and have been sentenced to 10 months' home detention, fined $3,000, banned from driving for four years and ordered to sell their high-powered cars.
Young-Whaanga's lawyer argued his client was not racing and that Ms Edward-Mintorn had chosen to tussle with six lanes of traffic with a high blood alcohol level.
