Wellington may have started drying off after Tuesday's weather bomb, but the Metservice is warning rain, wind, and possible thunderstorms are on the way for tonight and tomorrow.
After a day of flooding, slips, and road closures - as well as numerous aftershocks from Monday's 7.5 earthquake - the capitalhas been left a little battered.
But while the sun came out for a bit today, it's not set to last. In fact, if thunderstorms do hit, Wellington might see 10-25mm of rain in an hour.
Meteorologist Claire Flynn said Wellington was under another severe weather watch for rain due to hit this evening.
There was also a risk of thunderstorms, but they were more likely to hit north of the city, Flynn said.
"Tomorrow morning that should be back to showers for a time, but then we've got a southerly change coming through, probably shortly after midday. That will be bringing another risk of thunderstorms."
Thursday's thunderstorm risk was lower, but the thunderstorms would be right over the city, bringing with them a chance for 10-25mm of rain in an hour.
About 6mm was considered heavy rain, so 10-25mm could mean "really heavy, intense rain" for the city, she said.
