Owners of nine Wellington heritage buildings will receive $150,000 from the council's Built Heritage Incentive fund.
The funding was approved this week to go towards seismic strengthening work and preserving the heritage characteristics of each building.
Buildings benefiting from the fund include St Mary's Anglican Church in Karori, St JohnsChurch Johnsonville and Albemarle Hotel on Ghuznee Street, the council's Buildings Portfolio leader Iona Pannett said.
The fund helped conserve, restore, protect and care Wellington's heritage-listed buildings and objects.
"The work that is being put into these heritage buildings is fantastic," Ms Pannett said.
"Preserving Wellington's heritage character is incredibly important and the council is glad to be able to contribute by working with the building owners to ensure these buildings are able to remain standing."
