One fire crew remains at the scene of a serious fire at a factory in Newtown, Wellington, tonight.
The blaze in The French Door Factory building in Mansfield Street began around 4:45pm, and more than 24 firefighters had been at the scene trying to get it under control.
By 8pm it was under control. A fire investigator would be looking in to the cause of the blaze tomorrow.
The Fire Service had been concerned about the flames spreading, fire communications centre shift manager Mike Wanoa said earlier.
"It is certainly very, very close to other buildings ... that is a concern.
