Police will today take fingerprints from the body of a man who drowned in the sea in Wellington on Sunday in an effort to identify him.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found underwater by two recreational divers exploring Island Bay's new snorkel trail, Acting Senior Sergeant Lance Murdoch said.
Police were alerted about 3pm and dive squad members recovered the body.
The death did not appear to be suspicious, but Wellington CIB was investigating.
