Wellington death: Police appeal for sightings of vehicle

Police investigating the killing of Wellington woman Rongmei Fan are appealing for sightings of a Brown Toyota Corona vehicle on the last day she was seen alive.

Ms Fan, 37, who was known as Mei, was found dead in her home in Miramar two days after she dropped her young children off at school on November 8.

Detective Senior Sergeant John van den Heuvel said police wanted to hear from anyone who had seen a Brown Toyota Corona sedan with a missing hub cap on the front passenger side, in Miramar or anywhere else in Wellington, on November 8.

"We're not making any assumptions as to who was driving the vehicle so we are also interested in any information about the occupants, what they were doing and what were they wearing," he said.

Ms Fan's brother Fan Rong Cheng, uncle Fan Mao Cai and aunt Fan Su Lan arrived in Wellington from China late last month.

During a press conference they described her as a beautiful daughter and a caring mother.

"We were shocked and shaken to learn that far away in New Zealand one of our relatives, Mei, was killed in a violent attack. It is beyond belief and beyond comprehension," the family said.

Police also wanted to know more about the movements of Ms Fan's red 2005 Honda Fit hatchback car, registration GSL128, any time on November 8.
