Wellington City Council will front media today about the engineering requirements for owners of 80 buildings affected by last month's monster quake.
The council is this week writing to the owners, telling them it needs targeted engineering assessments of the buildings after the November 14 earthquake.
Most of the buildings on the list fared well in the quake and aftershocks, and initial inspections have indicated they appeared to have suffered no damage or only minor damage.
But experts investigating the performance of the Statistics NZ building in the quake have recommended further assessments.
The council's recovery manager, Mike Mendonca, and several eminent engineers and building experts will this morning provide information about the assessments and answer media questions.
