Today we're starting the New Zealand Herald data blog, focusing on numbers in news and the showcasing the best interactive visualisation.
The blog will be aimed at people interested in all aspects of data. We hope to have a community-driven approach to the blog. In keeping with that, the first blog post has a broadband affordability interactive map - made by Jonathan Brewer.
Data from StatisticsNZ and other government agencies will be published on the blog in a usable format with brief analysis. We'll also publish raw data on Github when available for a particular visualisation.
Why are we doing this?
Data journalism has evolved rapidly over the past few years. We're hoping to provide the blog as a service to curate data sets and also highlight some of the great work being done in data visualisation within New Zealand.
