KEY POINTS:
The weekend road toll has risen to five with the death early today of a 25-year-old Tokoroa woman following a crash in the south Waikato town yesterday.
Police said that the victim's Toyota Camry stationwagon collided with a Toyota Hiace van on State Highway 1.
She was admitted to Waikato Hospital but died of her injuries early today.
She was the sole occupant of the Camry and the driver and front seat passenger of the Hiace escaped with minor injuries.
Police said that crash investigators were continuing to determine the cause of the accident and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
Police this morning named two of the other four people killed on the roads so far this weekend.
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes said Jessie Isabelle Noble, 79, died when she reversed her car out of her driveway on SH1, between Greenpoint and Bluff, yesterday afternoon and collided with a ute.
The ute's three occupants were injured.
Jamie Melville Wedlake, 18, of Christchurch was killed when his Nissan vanette collided with a Toyota Landcruiser on the south side of Hurunui River Bridge in north Canterbury about 6.55pm yesterday.
Police said initial investigations showed Mr Wedlake was driving south on SH7 when he crossed the centre line hitting the oncoming Landcruiser.
Police have not yet named a motorcyclist who died when his machine careered off Lake Ferry Road, in south Wairarapa, at 5.45pm yesterday or second motorcyclist killed on SH3 at Mokau, north of New Plymouth this morning.
No other vehicles were involved in either crash.
