If rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, then Olympic rowing gold medallist Hamish Bond and his new wife, Lizzie Travis, have a long and happy future together.
The couple wed on a private Waikato property last Saturday, with sporting greats in attendance including his coxless pair crewmate Eric Murray, Mahe Drysdale and Nathan Cohen. Former rower Nathan Twaddle served as their celebrant.
Bad weather forced the couple to change their plans for an outdoor wedding just an hour before the ceremony, but it did nothing to dampen their romantic day.
"It would have been special outside, but it was equally special inside," Hamish told New Idea magazine.
