A Hamilton couple has lost a battle for compensation over the fatal Icepak Coolstore explosion, near Hamilton, which brought their wedding reception to an abrupt end.
Leanne and Grant Bradley sued wedding venue host Gail Jones for "loss of ambience" following the April 5 explosion, which left Hamilton Senior Station Officer Derek Lovell dead and seriously injured seven of his colleagues.
The reception was being held along the road from the coolstore and wedding guests raced to the scene of the explosion and dragged injured firefighters clear.
Ms Jones told the Waikato Times she won the case, which was heard in the Disputes Tribunal in Hamilton last month.
"I won, but I don't want it to go any further. It was not (a) good (experience)," she told the newspaper.
She did not know why the Bradleys' pursued the case and said she was "pretty angry at the time".
Mrs Bradley said she and her husband did not want to discuss the matter.
"We're just trying to get a hold of things," she said.
"Grant and I are trying to move on from what happened. We just want to put it all behind us."
