Rugby fans in Christchurch will wake up to a chilly morning with temperatures expected to drop to 4C overnight on both Saturday and Sunday. But Cantabrians can expect warmer weather later in the day as the temperature is set to reach 16C and 21C. respectively.
Aucklanders may need to grab an umbrella when heading out this weekend with a chance of odd showers on both days.
Apart from the typical wind, Wellington is set for a fine weekend with slight northerlies hitting the capital city.
Dunedin may experience a frosty start to the day.
Showers in Fiordland will turn to rain and there will be strong westerlies in the south coast.
Sunday will see a similar picture for both islands with rain and patchy drizzle affecting the West Coast of the South Island.
MAIN CENTRES FORECAST:
• Whangarei - Cloudy on Saturday with a high of 17C, with a similar picture on Sunday, cloudy and a high of 17C.
• Auckland - Saturday will see cloudy periods and the odd morning shower, a southwest wind and a high of 16C, while Sunday with improve slightly to 17C, but stay mostly cloudy.
• Hamilton - Saturday will be cloudy with a chance of a morning shower, and 16C, while Sunday will also be cloudy but reach a high of 17C.
• Tauranga - Fine on Saturday, with a high of 17C; improving on Sunday to 19C and fine.
• Wellington - Morning cloud on Saturday will clear to leave a mostly fine day with a high of 16C, and remains fine on Sunday at 16C.
• Christchurch - Fine on Saturday with a high of 16C, but temperatures will rise on Sunday hitting a high of 21C.
• Dunedin - Saturday will be fine, with a high of 15C, while Sunday will also be fine, but with a high of 17C.
