Expect the golden sunshine to fade slightly this weekend, but be ready for the warm temperatures to continue.
Auckland will be mostly sunny today, but there will be cloudy patches over parts of Waitakere and other areas to the west of the city.
A temperature of 24C will be the maximum in the City of Sails today. A low of 14C is expected tonight.
Tomorrow will be a cloudy day to end the working week, but the temperature will still be around 23C.
MetService weather forecaster Ian Miller said the weekend would bring less sunshine for Aucklanders, and a few showers are also in sight.
"Friday will still be nice - [but] not quite as nice as it's been," Mr Miller said. "Saturday will see some showers in the evening and it'll be the same on Sunday - it's going to be a bit cloudy too."
Temperatures in Auckland on Sunday will be high, around 21C to 22C.
Northland through to the Bay of Plenty is expected to get "the best" weather this weekend, Mr Miller said, and sunshine is expected down the west coast of the North Island throughout the two-day break.
Areas including the Waikato and Cambridge are expected to have similar weather patterns as those in Auckland, with cloudy periods expected today and tomorrow and a few showers developing on Saturday and Sunday.
Those living in the capital might have to have an umbrella handy today: drizzle is expected during the day, and rain is forecast for tomorrow and right through to Saturday. Wellington will be mainly fine on Sunday.
Those in the South Island will not be so lucky. MetService put out a heavy rain warning last night for parts of the West Coast.
It will be rain tonight for those in Christchurch, who can also expect rain tomorrow morning but fine weather later in the day - although with strong westerlies developing at night.
Weather: Weekend will be tinged with grey
