Unsettled weather is forecast to continue this week, with blue skies tomorrow followed by more grey and damp, MetService says.
Meteorologist Liz Walsh said a wet front looming over Auckland this afternoon was gradually weakening as it moved across the North Island.
Likewise, the South Island had seen an active front move up the east coast bringing thundery activity to places.
"But it looks like everything's easing back to open up a pretty nice day over the North Island tomorrow with lots of sunshine and temperatures heading up into the mid 20s,'' she said.
Most of the South Island, apart from Fiordland and Southland, could also expect reasonably fine weather tomorrow until another front rolled over in the evening.
