The final days of the school holidays are finishing on a dry note for most of New Zealand but you'd best head east for sunny skies.
MetService duty forecaster Emma Blades said cloud would cover the west of the North Island today including Auckland but eastern regions could expect a beautiful sunny day.
"There's quite a lot of cloud around for western parts but the east of the island is clear. Wellington is quite sunny with quite a strong northerly wind which is expected to ease" she said.
Temperatures remained mild with Auckland expected to reach 19C and Wellington 18C.
She said it would be generally fine across the South Island with Christchurch enjoying a warm, dry but increasingly cloudy day.
