KEY POINTS:
Motorists are being warned they could face "significant" delays after two crashes due to bad weather on Auckland's Northern Motorway.
Police said a truck was on its side, straddling the median barrier between Esmonde Road and Northcote interchanges, slowing traffic.
Police also asked motorists to exercise care and patience north of Oteha Valley where up to seven cars were reported to have been involved in another, southbound crash.
Meanwhile, a serious two-car crash has led to a road being closed in south Auckland.
Emergency services are dealing with a serious injury at the scene of the crash, on Whitford Road, just east of the Whitford Bridge.
Inspector Ian Brooker of Counties Manukau Police said traffic was already backed up and advised motorists to find alternative routes.
"One of those involved has injuries reported to be potentially fatal and the road has been completely closed to allow the scene to be cleared," he said in a statement.
Serious crash staff are investigating.
