Cross Country Rentals Giants men's softball coach Tony Nixon is adamant.
His team will beat Dodgers in a vital Inter-City series match at Fraser Park, Avalon tomorrow.
Qualifying for the top six play- offs in the Inter-City competition is on the line for Giants in this particular fixture and Nixon is "very confident" they will put some below-average form in the last couple of weeks behind them.
"We need to win, and we will," Nixon said.
"There are no ifs and buts about it, none at all.".
Nixon has been disappointed but not altogether surprised at Giants' recent struggles with the effects of an already busy season which has seen them involved in some 40 games starting to take its toll.
"Quite honestly I think everybody is looking forward to the Christmas break, that's the truth of it," he said.
"There has been no lack of trying but the usual zip isn't quite there anymore.
"A freshen up will be good for everyone."
Nixon anticipates, however, that the importance of tomorrow's result will have a full strength Giants line-up again firing on all cylinders.
"We've talked at training about the need to come up with a big one here and that's very much the intent," he said.
"There won't be lack of any concentration and enthusiasm tomorrow, I can guarantee that."
At the same time though Nixon is aware that a Dodgers team playing in their best form will be no push-overs, and that Giants will need to be on their mettle in both the fielding and batting departments to quell their challenge.
"It's not going to be all one-way traffic, we know that," he said.
"But we are certainly good enough to win, and win well, and that's what we have to do."
'We need to win,' says coach Nixon
