The need to maintain discipline, particularly in their own half, will be stressed to Wairarapa United before their Central League football match with Taranaki at New Plymouth on Sunday.
Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley has been impressed with Taranaki's organisation and skill when awarded free kicks.
And he doesn't need reminding they scored the equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Wairarapa United earlier in the season from such a situation.
"They caught us off guard then and we have to ensure we don't fall into the same trap again," he said. "If the discipline is there they won't get the chance, and that's what we want."
Keinzley has been impressed too with the soundness of the Taranaki defence who were apparently the catalyst behind their shock win over powerful Miramar Rangers in New Plymouth a fortnight ago.
"They have a tall defence so they generally look after the ball in the air very well," he said.
"You have to vary your attacking options against them, they don't only have height they move well too."
Good news for Wairarapa United is that doubts over the availability of defender James Oxtoby and midfielder and skipper Pita Rabo appear to have dissipated and that would mean them being at full strength, apart from the absence of Adam Cowan, who has one week to go on his four-match suspension. Cowan's unavailability will see the versatile Aaron Spierling again playing in a defensive line-up which will include goalkeeper Richard Gillespie in goal, Oxtoby, Carl Shailer and Waisake Sabatu. Making up the midfield will be Sakeo Valevou, Miriek Tvaroh, Nick Roydhouse and Rabo and up front will be Paul Gregory and Seule Soromon.
Meanwhile, Douglas Villa AFC are bringing back their very popular junior tournament, which was last played in 2003. It will be held over two weekends in September and include boys and girls competitions from grade seven through to 13.
We don't want to fall into the trap, says Keinzley
