The Wairarapa Building Society got behind Daffodil Day last Friday with a boldly decorated car and a $1000 cheque for the Wairarapa Cancer Society.
Collectors outside WBS on Queen St in Masterton posed with WBS chief executive Kim McCabe as the cheque was presented to Cancer Society's Jeanine Gribbin.
WBS marketing manager Vicki Thompson said they have a budget for sponsorship for local events.
"It such a good cause."
Ms Gribbin said they were having a great day on Friday.
"We had over 50 volunteers out on the streets, all collecting for us.
"Businesses and the people have been absolutely wonderfully generous."
The officer was sent cartwheeling through the air after the defendant drove at him.
