Road closures will hit late-night West Auckland commuters tonight as workers press ahead with the Waterview Connection.
The NZ Transport Agency says overnight work will "significantly restrict" access to the busy Great North Rd interchange as the new State Highway 16 and 20 interchange is built above it.
Road closures will take effect from 9pm until 5am tomorrow and restricted access to the interchange affects drivers:
• On Great North Rd heading toward Pt Chevalier via Waterview, follow detour via Rosebank Rd
• Joining the northwestern motorway city-bound, follow detour via Rosebank Rd
• Wanting to use the northwestern east-bound exit at the interchange, follow detours via Carrington and New North roads
• Travelling from the city on the northwestern to Pt Chevalier, exit at St Lukes interchange and travel on Great North Rd
• Great North Rd west-bound from Carrington Rd/Pt Chevalier will also be closed, detours via local routes.
The agency says those using the interchange to join the motorway heading west or west-bound drivers leaving the motorway for Great North Rd are not affected.
