In a year when Auckland City ratepayers were hit with a 9.1 per cent rise in water bills by Metrowater, the board has rewarded chief executive Jim Bentley with a 20 per cent pay rise.
This has taken his salary to a range of $370,000 to $380,000 in the 2007-08 year.
