Water back on for Mount and Papamoa

Final repairs have been successful on a broken water main, which affected supply to Mount Maunganui and Papamoa.

The pipeline came back on at 12.50pm today and has remained stable, Tauranga City Council has reported.

"It will take another day for the water supply system to recover back to normal operation levels."

Council staff would continue to closely monitor water supply levels for Mount Maunganui and Papamoa as the system recovered.

Council wanted to thank the community for their water conservation efforts made today.

After a main supply line failed last night all businesses and residents in the area were urged to conserve water.

At 9am, the council said in a statement that repairs of the second water main break were progressing well.

Reservoir levels when the pipeline came back online were:
Mount 27%
Mangatawa 36%
Poplar Lane 44%
