As part of the Who We Are series, David Fisher and Mark Mitchell investigate how migration has shaped New Zealand.

What makes New Zealand? Is it the people? The landscape? A shared history? Our obsession with rugby?

The Herald wanted to find out. So David Fisher and Mark Mitchell travelled from Bluff to Cape Reinga in a campervan. The resulting series, Who We Are, aims to explain what it means to be Kiwi in 2016.

This is part of a series of mini-documentaries about the themes that unite and - sometimes - divide us.

In it, we focus on migration. The vast majority of migrants used to come from Britain but that's no longer the case. We talk to one relatively recent arrival who explains why she loves New Zealand so much.
