Warriena Wright balcony death - Coroner to liaise with family

Balcony death victim Warriena Wright's New Zealand-based family will be contacted by the Queensland Coroner's Office before it decides whether to hold an inquest into her death.

Last week it was revealed investigations into 26-year-old Wright's death had been reopened by the Coroner.

Wright died after she plunged 14 floors from her Tinder date Gable Tostee's Surfers Paradise high-rise balcony in August 2014.

Tostee was acquitted of the New Zealander's murder and manslaughter after a two-week Supreme Court trial in October this year.

Police immediately referred the case back to the Coroner. The Coroner can make recommendations such as criminal charges and suggested measures to ­improve public safety.

Tostee went on social media immediately and dismissed the investigation as a non-event.
