Warrant issued for hamster smuggler

A woman who smuggled a hamster into New Zealand in a sock has had a warrant for her arrest actioned after failing to show up for sentencing at Wellington District Court by yesterday.

The 43-year-old woman, who has name suppression, was found guilty of having a dwarf Campbells Russian hamster called Eric in her possession.
