A domestic stabbing in Hamilton this morning has led to warnings of the volatile mix of alcohol and increased Christmas financial pressure.
Hamilton CIB Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Mortimore said police went to the Ross Crescent address about 1.40am following a call from ambulance staff.
"Officers arrived to find a woman had suffered a serious stab wound to her back and she was taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance and has subsequently been released.
"Police are working to confirm the identity and location of a man believed to have been at the address at the time of the incident."
A scene guard was in place at the Fairfield address and a forensic examination was scheduled to take place later this morning.
