Auckland Regional Public Health is warning people not to eat toxic shellfish.
The warning is in place from Taranaki the to Kaipara Heads, including the Manukau Harbour.
Medical Officer of Health Dr Simon Baker says it applies to shellfish including kina, mussels, toheroa, pipis, tuatua, oysters, cockles and scallops.
He says cooking shellfish doesn't remove the toxin.
