Warkworth rafters reported safe

Two men reported missing after going rafting on a river north of Auckland are understood to be safe.

Police, coastguard and the Westpac rescue helicopter were all involved in a search of the coast and a river near Warkworth, 69km north of Auckland, where the duo were reported missing from a yellow and blue raft yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the coastguard said it was understood the situation had been resolved and the men were safe.

A Westpac Rescue Helicopter spokesman said it was unclear whether the men had made their own way to shore as bad weather had put a halt to its search efforts.
