A wanted man who jumped into the Waihou River to evade police has contacted his family.
Police say Cody Keenan, 26, is still at large but they no longer fear for his safety.
Keenan, who has "Mighty Mongrel Mob" tattooed on his face, made headlines when he jumped off a bridge on Monday after a police chase.
Waikato East Area Commander Inspector John Kelly said police had received a tip-off about his whereabouts that led them to an address in Morrinsville on Sunday.
"As officers arrived, a van pulled out of the address. The officers signalled for the van to stop but it failed to do so."
